Harley Estate (Banana Black Honey) - Sakleshpur; Tastes like: Toffee, Cranberries, Floral Harley Estate is one of India’s finest coffee plantations with a rich history of innovation, excellent processing and award-winning coffees galore. Run by Mr. D.M Purnesh and his daughters Tapaswini and Chandni, they make use of state-of-the-art growing, and processing techniques along with some incredibly designed fermentations to produce some truly spectacular coffees. This SL9 is a special black honey process which was then dried under banana leaves which extended the drying and created a unique environment for further fermentation.
This coffee was denser than most of the other coffees we got this year and required us to think deeply about the roasting approach. We have roasted this to a medium-light degree, with a long development which has given a rich taste of caramel toffee to balance the vibrant notes of Cranberry and the subtle floral aromatics. We really enjoy this as a filter, and just as with all light roasts, we do love it as an espresso!
