Anai Kadu takes its name of the Elepahants (Kadu) that frequent their estate. Located in Maldare in Coorg, Nisha and Kurian left their corporate lives in Bangalore and moved to their 50 acre coffee farm during the pandemic and started their journey of producing speciality coffee. Anai Kadu came to the fore a couple of years back when they did some incredible nano lots of their arabicas and robustas. Over the last few years, they established themselves as one of the more experimental and promising coffee farms in Coorg. From their gorgeous packing and hand-drawn illustrations that are sent with the green coffee samples to the meticulous farming and processing, they are one of the farms that we look forward to working with every year! Like last year, we picked up their Naturals, called the Elephant's Trail, but this time around it's an Aerobic Naturals which we really enjoyed and felt that it was a worthy repeat season ticket offering!
The Aerobic fermentation done with this S795 has yielded a super sweet and a fruity cup, without any booziness. We always enjoy sweet, and clean naturals, and this one is just that. Compared to some of the other coffees we've put out this year, this one is heavier on the mouthfeel and has a lovely chocolate finish. To enhance the syrupy mouthfeel, we roasted this a bit slower but kept is slight still. The coffee has a sweet plum flavour, with notes of citrus and syrupy chocolate finish.
